The Tyrannosaurus Rex is a large predator that appears in Walking with Dinosaurs, When Dinosaurs Roamed America, and Dinosaur Planet. It is the most famous Dinosaur in the world.
The T-Rex once lived in America and was an apex predator. It's jaws is considered to have the greatest bite force. The predator was also known for being rather fast for a dinosaur of it's size approximately 20-25mph. Tyrannosaurus Rex also has a larger brain cavity than most theropods leaving many paleontologist to believe it was a smart predator. Allowing it to ambush and stalk prey.
It first appeared in the last episode of Walking with Dinosaurs known as Death of a Dynasty. Where a female tried to raise her young near the end of the Cretaceous. While her first nest died she had another where she dfended them against an Ankylosaurus. Ultimately she perished due to her wound from the previously mentioned dinosaur while her babies died during the asteroid impact.
It would appear again in When Dinosaurs Roamed America. This time a family, two teenagers and a mother, stalked several herbivores during the episode. Much like the last one they died during the asteroid impact.
The last appearance it makes is during the final few minutes in Little Das's Hunt where it is hinted at that they are related.
The Giant Claw would mention it during the episode due to it's Asian cousin being a starring dinosaur.
It's final appearance would be in To Hell...and Back where it is seen in a cameo.
- The Tyrannosaurus in WWD is not atomically correct. Aside from a squared head it has a much shortened tail and the nostrils are not in the right place.
- A common misconception is that a female Tyrannosaur is larger than the male. This has been proven false.
